Haruko Obokata

In January 2014, Nature published Haruko Obokata’s  STAP (stimulus-triggered acquisition of pluripotency) research which states that treating cells with certain acidity levels can increase the pluripotency of cells.  But at the beginning of April RIKEN, government funded Japanese research institute, announced that Obokata’s results were purposely fabricated and the director of the institute Ryoji Noyori stated that after the disciplinary committee meeting necessary punishments will be given to the relevant people. But Obokata denied any accusations, stating that she will file a complaint against RIKEN.
